Three Things To See In Edinburgh

One of the attractions you may want to see if you are lucky enough to be visiting Edinburgh is the Royal Botanic Gardens. The gardens were established in 1670. Since then, in the twentieth century they have acquired three regional gardens too – in the mountainous in Argyll, in the wooded hills of the Scottish Borders and on the Gulf Stream-warmed southern Dumfries and Galloway.
All three gardens make up one of the world’s largest living collections of plants. The gardens not only serve as a tourist attraction, they are also scientific centres for the study of plants, plant biodiversity and their conservation. All four gardens are also unique and have their own specialist collection. The entire organisation’s collection consists of more than 15,000 plant species (41, 00 accessions). The herbarium on the other hand contains more than three million preserved specimens. A herbarium is a collection of preserved plant specimen. The Palace of Holyrood House is also worth seeing, especially if you want to make it a royal tour all round. It is the official residence of Her Majesty The Queen in Scotland. The palace stands at the end of the Royal Mile in front of the spectacular Arthur’s Seat. The fine building is steeped in Scottish history. It is best known however as the home of Mary, Queen of the Scots. It is the setting of many of the dramatic episodes in her turbulent reign. She was married at the palace and witnessed the brutal killing of her secretary Rizzio by her jealous second husband, Lord Darnley. The Palace also later served briefly as the headquarters of Bonnie Prince Charlie during the 1745 uprising. If you are looking for places to stay while visiting Scotland, Coylumbridge hotel is definitely recommendable. Another good tip to find luxurious places to stay is on the net. Look up Hotels in Cairngorms. They generally have a lot of good short trip offers throughout the year.
