Vienna's Museum of Modern Art

Simply put, Vienna is a gorgeous city! The capital of Austria makes a perfect holiday getaway for individuals, couples, and families who are looking for an entertaining, fascinating and relaxing city break. There are excellent transport routes to and from the city as well as efficient and affordable internal travel provided by the public transport network of regular  trains and trams.
As well as the many luxurious and grand hotels Vienna has to offer, the city also features some of the most exquisite architecture in the entire world. The architecture makes the city  a great travel destination for any art lovers, as well as the fact that it contains some of Europe’s finest galleries which are themselves (architecturally speaking) works of art.

For those interested in modern art it would be a sin to miss out on the opportunity to visit the excellent museum of modern art that Vienna possesses. The Museum Moderner Kunst (‘The Modern Art Museum’ in English) or MUMOK for short has an impressive collection of over seven thousand pieces of contemporary and modern art. The gallery owns works by such greats as Pablo Picasso, Andy Warhol, Roy Lichenstein, Jasper Johns and Joseph Beuys. The museum also has a fantastic showcase of some of the works of internationally acclaimed artist, Marina Abramovic.

The museum can be found at the Museumsquartier alongside a number of other fantastic museums.Returning to architecture, it is worth noting that the Museumsquartier has some lovely examples of Baroque buildings as well as some modern installations from designers such as Laurids and Manfred Ortner. So if you consider yourself something of a modern art aficionado then don’t hesitate to book a hotel Vienna Austria is your next destination!

Here’s a  handy hint worth remembering. For those who appreciate art universally there is another exceptional museum which features much older and classical works of art. This is the Kunsthistorisches Museum or the ‘Museum of Art History’ and is definitely well worth a visit.
