The Pantheon in Rome

Italy's most populated and interesting city is Rome and it is situated in the central-western part of the country. The capital is one of the most ancient cities in the world. There is a lot to see from the interesting historical places and buildings to the most luxurious Waldorf Roma hotels.

You can enjoy several beautiful sites in the Eternal city like the Colosseum, the Roman Forum and the Pantheon. The first one is amongst the most visited landmarks in the world and it receives more than 4 million visitors a year. It was usually used for gladiatorial battles and public speeches.

May be less visited but as interesting as the Colosseum is the Pantheon. It is a temple started by Marcus Agrippa and later rebuilt by Emperor Hadrian. The dome of the construction was the largest ever built and even today two thousand years later it is still the biggest one. In ancient times the Pantheon was used for a gathering place for elections and the army. Today it is a church where masses are still celebrated. The construction is circular with a opening to the sky in the center, which is called “oculus”.

You can visit these and many other interesting ancient buildings in Rome. This is the place for the perfect vacation and you should not wait for the last moment to book your room in Roma hotel Waldorf. Enjoy your greatest trip ever.
