The Symbol of Bucharest

As most of you probably know, Bucharest is the capital city of Romania. It is the biggest and most populated city in the country and in my opinion, the most beautiful one.

Its architecture reminds very much of Paris and this is the reason for the city to be called “Little Paris of the East”. There are a lot of old buildings in the city, which can grab your attention, but there is one amongst all which will take your breath away. It is the heaviest building and the second biggest administrative building in the world. Only the Pentagon is bigger than it. It is called People's Palace or the Palace of the Parliament. This colossal landmark was built during the tyrannical reign of the Communist leader Nicolae Ceausescu and is part of the Communist legacy. Although it brings quite unpleasant memories to locals, they have learned not to think about the past and have accepted it as part of their national heritage. After all, it is the most popular tourist attraction in Bucharest.

Although the architecture in Bucharest is quite spectacular and amazing, and the Palace of the Parliament is a fabulous landmark, there are other things which can also make an impression to you in the Romanian capital. Take for example the local cuisine. There is no other place in Eastern Europe, where you will be able to taste eastern dishes in a sophisticated western style. There is even no need to go to a restaurant, because the one in your Bucharest hotel will provide you with this pleasure.

So, if you are still wondering whether to head for the Balkan Peninsula, don't be! Book a room in some of the cosy and hospitable Bucharest hotels and enjoy your Balkan adventure.
