To give an accurate answer to this question I must say that its a very tough choice for a person which can choose between those two cities. That’s why is important to understand the good and the bad side of both cities in order to make the final conclusion.
Let start with Barcelona pros. Comparing to Madrid, Barcelona is more beautiful and picturesque. For sure La Rambla is the most beautiful place for walking in the world and this is the primary reason why more tourists prefer the less noisy town of Barcelona.
I personally consider this to be very important factor in this challenge. The next tool in this challenge are the beaches. They are perfect for cooling off in the summer, which Madrid doesn’t has. Concerning the climate I can say that to in Barcelona during the summer its much better than Madrid. Last, but not least is the accommodation. The cheap flats Barcelona are better in some cases, especially for the prices. In Madrid you cannot even think to find short term rentals Barcelona.
Its time to focus on the capital Madrid good sides. According to the night-life, Madrid has the biggest advantage, because some of the best clubs in the country are there. You can be a “member” of the morning ( let’s say 4 am. ) traffic which is unusual for most of the countries. Looking from educational and economical prospect Madrid is much more develop and offers incredible life opportunities, which is also important factor, but not for tourism. Anyway, no matter where you will there are plenty of things that you should try and see. For business and luxury travel choose Madrid. For traveling, sightseeing and beaches check Barcelona. Even, if you choose a third city you are not going to stay disappointed.
